Most of these words mean exactly the same as they do in English but unfortunately it's not a perfect system because some of them change a little eg, assassination - asasinato. Some of them have multiple meanings which sometimes coincide and sometimes don't eg.
 

Appreciation - Apreciación   They mean the same in both languages if you are refering to art or theatre as in appreciation of the arts but if you  mean appreciation of the value of a property you will need to use the word "plusvalía".

Almost all the English words can be converted into a verb by adding -e
Eg Adoration - Adore

Almost all the Spanish words can be converted into a verb by adding  -ar
Eg Adoración  -  Adorar

All the words with -ación are femenine
 
All the -ación words have an accent on the final ó
